ARRL Field Day 2026

Field Day this year will be held at Larry Hill’s QTH which is located on 6417 West SR 44W about half way to the County line. Look for the Quilt image on the red barn on the North side of the highway. Pull in there. Field Day starts at 2:00 PM local time(18:00 UTC). I would suggest getting there around Noon, that will give plenty of time to setup antennas and do a radio check.

Grissom Air Show Volunteers Needed!

I have been contacted by a representative of Grissom Air Force Base’s Air Show asking for amateur radio volunteer assistance.

Due to deployments for Operation Epic Fury many of the resources and manpower used in the past are not available for the upcoming air show. We are being asked to provide a wide array of communication and logistical support activities. These activities include supplementing and augmenting military and state police, spectator assistance, vendor assistance and other logistical support.

The event is on August 29 and 30th, and we need all the support we can get. All you need is an amateur radio license, a handheld 2m/70cm radio, and the willingness to support our military, their families and the community. We need volunteers from all of Indiana to help support this event.

I need to get a number of how many volunteers so we can coordinate how much support and in what capacities we will be able to provide the support.

Please send me an email at Brian.Sexton89@gmail.com if you are able to volunteer. The more volunteers we have the greater the event will be for everyone.

Grissom Air force Base is located North of Kokomo, IN off of US-31, centered between South Bend and Indianapolis.

Thank you,

Brian P. Sexton, KD9EDR
